Management Training
|
With the financial support of the Hornby Educational Trust and IATEFL, AzETA organises management training for its management team.
AzETA is centrally managed by an Executive Board consisting of 7 members, and locally - at the branch level by Branch Management Team. At the moment there are 6 AzETA branches in the country. 4 regions recently applied to establish branches in their respective regions. There are also 8 Special Interest Groups within AzETA. So, all this work requires proper organisational management. As all the members involved in the management of this and that part of AzETA are practising English teachers with classroom management skills only, it is vital that AzETA has trained managers to run the growing organisation properly.
Besides, AzETA elected a new Executive Board in its 5th Conference held on 8-9 November 2008 for 3 years. As such, to have professional training after elections, is very vital and useful not only for the Board members as individuals, but also for the sustainability of the Association.
It is one of the tasks for the participants to share the knowledge gained at the training with the peers and coach them acquire the same skills. This way, besides being a professional organisation, AzETA is a professionally managed organisation thanks to the training.
The training topics each consisting of 2 hours are as below:
Module 1: Management and its stages. Organisational structure and methods. Manager Module 2: Organisation as an object of management. Strategic management and choosing a strategy Module 3: Project management Module 4: Business relations in management. Leadership Module 5: Creative management. Crisis management Module 6: Financial management

Trainer's feedback:
I was pleased to have this training with 11 enthusiastic and very dedicated members of the AzETA management team. Although they are practising teachers, they seem to gain enough experience through managing AzETA. They all were very active in discussions describing a full scene of AzETA work to make it easy for me to adapt my training to their needs and expectations. Their questions were guiding me to the direction we all wanted to reach. I enjoyed my time with them.
Now I am looking forward to working with the next group of people.I do believe that they will be as enthusiastic and active as these 11 people. It is great to know that there is such a strong professional organisation in Azerbaijan managed by high level ELT experts.
Feedback from the trainees:
- Before the training it seemed to me a boring topic as I was thinking that training on management would be for business people only. But I found this training very interesting and useful in my work with AzETA.
- What a great opportunity! Thank you very much for organising this training. I benefitted a lot.
- British Council once more demonstrated what a caring organisation it is. We are very grateful for this funding. We needed this training a lot. It is great to know that we have been on the right path all these years and are confident to continue our good job. A Hornby Trust Project helped AzETA leave out the crisis and now it is again Hornby Trust Project to help AzETA be managed professionally and achieve more success.
- Well, the thing is that we have done all this unaware of our management skills. This training helped us understand what we are able to do. Also, now we will do the things in a better way, in a more organised way.
- I felt very proud to look back and see how we had managed a challenge. After this training I believe that AzETA will not face with any management crisis. We will share all that we have learned with our peers so that AzETA grows from strength to strength.
The training was provided by Piramida Education and Career Centre.
