EAMP 2008-2010
AzETA has been implementing Project 3 under English Access Microscholarship Programme (Access Programme) since December 2008.

There are 144 beneficiaries in the Project. These are 14-18 year old non-elite students who has been studying English for a period of two years, with each receiving 132 hours of instruction per year consisting of 4 hours per week for at total of 33 weeks and 80 hours of non-residential summer camp consisting of 5 days and 4 hours per day for a total of 4 weeks per year commencing on December 1 2008 and ending in July 31 2010.

Below is some details of the Programme:


Baku:

There are 4 groups in Baku. Classes are organised in Ahmedli girls’ religious school (madrasa). Teachers are Hijran Huseynova and Gamar Rustamova. Both teachers have experiences with the previous EAMP groups.


Mashtaga:

There are 4 groups in Mashtaga. Classes are organised in Secondary School # 108 in Mashtaga. Teacher is Sudaba Sadigova. She has experience from the previous EAMP. She is also Co-ordinator of Test Developing Team of the Programme.


Jalilabad:

There are 2 groups in Jalilabad. Teacher is Yusif Aliyev. Classes are organised School #31 in Jalilabad town.


Mingechevir:

There are 2 groups in Mingechevir. Teacher is Gulnaz Hajiyeva. Classes are organised in AzETA Mingechevir Branch office which is located at Mingechevir Branch of Azerbaijan Teachers' Institute.


Ismayilli:

There are 2 groups in Ismayilli. Teacher is Yegana Mitalova. Classes are organised in Ismayilli Village School after Natiq Behdiyev.


Xachmaz:

There are 2 groups in Xacmaz. Teacher is Sevil Aliverdiyeva. She has experience with EAMP groups and has been awarded with the title of the Best Teacher with the Presidential Decree. Classes are organised in AzETA Branch office at school #8 after Academician Zarifa Aliyeva.


Ganja:

There is 1 group in Ganja. Teacher is Natiga Guliyeva. She has an experience with EAMP groups. Classes are organised in Ganja Public Library and Resource Centre.


Qebele:

There are 2 groups in Qebele. Teacher is Parvana Samedli. The classes are organised in Tuntul Village School.


Sheki:

There are 3 groups in Sheki. Teachers are: Ulker Aliyeva, Vusala Rahimova and Dilara Kerimova. Both Ulker and Vusala have experiences with EAMP. 2 classes are organised in AzETA Sheki Office in International School #8. Dilara Kerimova has a group where the students are from Bash Goynuk Village. The classes of this group are organised in the Village School.


Salyan

There are 2 groups in Salyan. Teacher is Parva Beylarova. The classes are organised in Salyan Education Department.


Meetings:

EAMP teachers meet in Baku quarterly to discuss issues of common concerns, share experiences, also to be trained on materials development, test development, etc.


Testing and assessment:

Besides weekly tests developed by each teacher individually, the students have general tests which are developed by the Test Developing Group within the Programme. As such, the dates for these tests in 2009 are as below:

1st test between 23-29 March
2nd test between 22-28 June
1st year final test on 29 July (after the non-residential summer camp)

The dates for the Year 2 under Project 3 will be fixed soon. The classes for Year 2 started on 2 October 2009 and will continue until 31 May 2010.


Project monitoring

The below tools are used for the Project monitoring:

- phone call to the Project beneficiaries;
- phone call to the parents of the Project beneficiaries;
- visit to the Project regions;
- checking Project teachers' folders

A special questionnaire is developed for each phone call. On 9 February 2009 the last phone call was made to randomly selected students from each group of each region. The same tool will be used in Year 2 of the Project.

Monitoring visits were made to Qebele on 10 February, Sheki on 28 March, Xacmaz on 23 May, where the Project Co-ordinator observed the classes and asked the students about their opinion, concerns, suggestions on the Project.


ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES

Celebrating Easter:

Easter celebration was be organized in March 2009. As it is challenging to bring all the students to Baku, celebrations were organized in the regions. Sheki, Ganja, Ismayilli, Qebele and Mingechevir had their event in Sheki on 14 March 2009.

Baku, Mashtaga, Mardakan and Xacmaz had an event in Baku on 28 March. Nardaran EAMP 2007-2009 also joined here.

Jalilabad had the celebration in Lenkaran together with Lenkaran EAMP 2007-2009 students on 4 April 2009.


Non-residential summer camps:

The summer camp was organised on 1-29 July 2009. Students from the neighbouring regions visited one another during these summer camps to have contests. The summer camp programme included the materials on the US only, including, US history, geography, culture, politics, etc. Project teachers developed a special summer camp programme where all this information was placed.
